Zero Day plus 41: checking up at Addenbrookes
So the first question on my list for the doctor at Addenbrookes was the very Irish one of "Would it now be ok to have a drink?". And he said yes! So here we are celebrating with my first drink since the middle of December (so I just managed to dodge dry January).
And all the other news is good. My bloods, he said, are back to normal. Which means, as I understand it, that I have normal resistance to ordinary bugs and infections but still have to assume that all my childhood polio, MMR etc is still buggered.
He also said I was 'doing very well'. Which I can't quite accept as the right phrase, because it seems more like Addenbrookes and the doctors and nurses and all the other staff are doing very well by me. I'm just receiving their good care.
The tiredness has definitely got much better, to the extent that I drove myself to Cambridge today because I felt safe to, and when the car park lifts were busy I walked up six floors to my car (stopping at each floor, admittedly). And even now, where a long day used to leave me feeling washed out, I still have energy and clarity.
I know better than to feel too cocky, because I was ambushed by unexpected vomiting two weeks ago and I know you can still have unpleasant side effects. But as the charts all look good and as Addenbrookes seem happy, I think I should too. And thanks again to everyone who has helped with practical support, moral support and simple love. A burden shared is a burden halved. Thank you 🙂

Gosh that beer looks good and you have good company to share it
