Zero Day plus four

And because it's a Sunday today, it's just me in the otherwise heavily used treatment room.

There are three or four of these rooms here in haematology and they are open from 8am till 8pm for cancer treatment for all blood-cancer patients. Here's this room:

In fact I don't normally use this room any more because once they start the stem cell transplant, your immunity takes a dive; instead they put me in a side room.

So, four days after stem cells and five after chemo, how is it going?

Well tiredness is definitely still a doozy with me. Today I set the alarm for 7 and woke for it after 8 hours sleep, decided to have a short nap as my appointment wasn't till 10:00 and woke at 9:50!. I reckon I usually sleep 12 in 24 at the moment.

Appetite is a big problem. So much food makes me feel nauseous, and I struggle to find things that don't. Some fruit is ok and other random shit, like Burger King chips (but not Burgers). They have said to eat anything i can, on the basis that this is a temporary blip and when it comes back I can rebalance my diet.

Have to say that there is also an element of boredom, but I don't think that's clinical, just a reasonable reaction to a limited scope. But how much worse would it be if I was stuck on a ward? No, definitely the hostel helps.

And I'm working through my books and TV and doing all I can to fill the time. And it's nice to have the blog, to be able to inform or moan, as the mood takes me.

  1. Lots of info and not much moaning so I think it's going pretty well so far.

Saw Emma yesterday while we were out playing carols in Woodbridge, would probably want me to send her love. Unfortunately we couldn't play Off to California.

    1. Thanks Pete and good luck with the last bits of caroling. There will be time enough for ' Off to California ' in 2025!
