More Dance of Death pictures No 2
Today's post is an easy one, as it is seven more of the pictures that Cro did for her father, who we know as Far, in the late 1970s, when she was about 18. I bring them for your entertainment, and I say again that if any talented youngster (or oldster) started offering to draw new ones now, there would definitely be takers. Far loved this set and they hung over his desk for years.
Here is the first one, where Death has come for the Cambridge student.
This one has a nice gruesome dripping-wet Death, not like the smiley ones that I had in my own Dance of Death. The next one is The Master in his college garden, under the Mulberry Tree.
All the colleges seem to have mulberry trees in Cambridge, and Cro was always maintained that the trees were brought by collectors hoping to start silk production, not knowing that it was the wrong type of mulberry for the purpose. Still, the fruit tastes good, and Cro said her and Far used to go scrumping mulberries when they could.
The next pictures are two of the people working at Cro's house, the cleaner and the gardener. The broken glass was I believe a family joke.
The last three pictures are ones relating to Far himself. The drinker, Runologist and Librarian were all roles that he took on with enthusiasm in his time at Cambridge. He was in fact for many years the Parker Librarian, overseeing and conserving the finest illuminated manuscripts in the country (more info here https://www.corpus.cam.ac.uk/parker-library)

These are extraordinary! Wonderful drawings; so talented and humourous....yet another aspect of Cro's all round brilliance! Thank you for posting them..
